Star Nerd and The Book of Genesis

Fade to a young adolescent girl in a room.

what if it was stardust?

excuse me?

the translation of the scripture is, "for dust you are, and to dust you shall return." what if it was STARdust?

[and THAT's how she got the nickname "Star Nerd". she couldn't figure out why science and religion just couldn't seem to agree with one another. it occurred to her that in hearing different accounts of the origin of man, some of the important details in these stories may have been lost in translation. she was always active in science class. when mr banks announced science club, she was the first to raise her hand. but this wasn't mr banks' class, this was the weekly bible study group. everyone turned around and looked at her. the room went completely silent for a moment.]

that's just stupid! [someone in the room yelled out.]

why is it stupid? you believe the first man was formed from earth, right? genesis chapter 3, verse 19 reads

By the sweat of your brow

    you will eat your food

until you return to the ground,

    since from it you were taken;

for dust you are

and to dust you will return.”

that's what The Bible says.

exactly. So what was EARTH formed from? physically it is made of the same components that are in the stars. hydrogen. oxygen. carbon.

[the study leader interrupted before she could keep going]

we need to stay on track and stick to tonight's lesson. if you want to, we can stay after the group is over and talk about it.

[this meant 'stop talking now.']

Talent and Adjustment

Virgin (Book One)

"And what is YOUR talent?" With a mocking tone, a deep voiced and visibly strong male, Nasa, summons Gaea from the small village crowd to the front of the line to stand before the Mei Ki Ari Ku, aka The Peoples Council.

A petite young female walks slowly to a patch of dry land, without saying a word. She sets her sight on a small area with a young dying tree, then opens her hand. She touches a branch and the once barren land immediately reformed to a bountiful field of green. Her eyes were a glistening green. Her beauty was youthful and her voice was unexpectedly stern. "Whatever TALENT I possess is solely for the care and safeguard of my people and my land." With no change in her facial expression, which indicated an obvious distaste for the present company and circumstances, she nodded to acknowledge the standing panel of The Peoples Council (TPC) and walked away in the opposite direction. She had made her position clear on more than one occasion. The need for tactful and civil interactions with TPC far outweighed her desire for teaching them a lesson.

"Your disposition requires some adjustment!"  From the short distance she could sense the heat from a torch gun. To add to his outburst Nasa had fired it to challenge her. He was visibly irritated, yet intrigued that she is not 'incinerated'. Gaea is yet again, untouched by the intense heat discharged from his custom built weapon. This was an upgrade to his previous model.

"Ha." She smiles, blinks her still glistening green eyes. Shaking her head, and without a flinch she keeps walking. "When is he going to learn?"

Emma, the eldest female of TPC urges Nasa, "DO NOT arouse her anger, Nasa. She is more valuable to us as a warm ally."

Liam, the eldest male of TPC concurs with another word of advice. "In time, she will submit to us, whether she wants to or not. It is her purpose."

Emma nods. "Remember the arrangement, and remain on course. We shall have what is due to us. All that we want and more."

Feeding

Feeding
An insectivore is a carnivorous plant or animal that eats insects. An alternative term is entomophage, which also refers to the human practice of eating insects.
Chameleons inhabit all kinds of tropical and mountain rain forests, savannas, and sometimes deserts and steppes

Senses

Senses
Chameleons have the most distinctive eyes of any reptile. The upper and lower eyelids are joined, with only a pinhole large enough for the pupil to see through. Each eye can pivot and focus independently, allowing the chameleon to observe two different objects simultaneously. This gives them a full 360-degree arc of vision around their bodies. Prey is located using monocular depth perception, not stereopsis. Chameleons have very good eyesight for reptiles, letting them see small insects from a 5–10 meter distance. In fact, chameleons have the highest magnification (per size) of any vertebrate.

Like snakes, chameleons do not have an outer or a middle ear, so there is neither an ear opening nor an eardrum. However, chameleons are not deaf: they can detect sound frequencies in the range of 200–600 Hz.

Chameleons can see in both visible and ultraviolet light. Chameleons exposed to ultraviolet light show increased social behavior and activity levels, are more inclined to bask and feed, and are also more likely to reproduce, as it has a positive effect on the pineal gland.

Change of Color

Change of Color
Some chameleon species are able to change their skin coloration. Different chameleon species are able to vary their coloration and pattern through combinations of pink, blue, red, orange, green, black, brown, light blue, yellow, turquoise, and purple. Chameleon skin has a superficial layer which contains pigments, and under the layer are cells with guanine crystals. Chameleons change color by changing the space between the guanine crystals, which changes the wavelength of light reflected off the crystals which changes the color of the skin.

Color change in chameleons has functions in social signaling and in reactions to temperature and other conditions, as well as in camouflage. The relative importance of these functions varies with the circumstances, as well as the species. Color change signals a chameleon's physiological condition and intentions to other chameleons. Chameleons tend to show brighter colors when displaying aggressively to other chameleons, and darker colors when they submit or "give up".

Some species, such as Smith's dwarf chameleon, adjust their colors for camouflage in accordance with the vision of the specific predator species (bird or snake) by which they are being threatened.

The desert-dwelling Namaqua chameleon also uses color change as an aid to thermoregulation, becoming black in the cooler morning to absorb heat more efficiently, then a lighter grey color to reflect light during the heat of the day. It may show both colors at the same time, neatly separated left from right by the spine
